This is one of the cutest foursomes I know. Cassi is a friend and fellow (very talented) photographer who currently resides in California. I was excited when she asked if we could do another family photo session trade when she was in town for the holidays (because I'm pretty sure I'm the luckier one in this trade). Plus, it meant I got to see her and catch up. She's a wealth of knowledge in the world of photography business and the best brain to pick with questions and ideas.

Anyhoo.....needless to say I loved everything about this shoot.

Allison is my running buddy (that is when I can pull my body out of bed in the wee hours). She's a lot of fun, and so were her kids during our photo shoot! Are you wondering how we got that dog to sit so still and look so regal? Just a little green tennis ball in one hand and my camera in the other. Frank (the dog) has a thing for balls and nearly knocked me in the creek trying to get that ball out of my hand. It was hilarious!

Last fall I was able to attend and participate in a beautiful memorial dinner and silent auction for Bunny Watson Bradley to help raise money for the Bunny Bradley bike trail in Draper, Utah. I donated a photo session for the silent auction and the darling Rice family happened to be the highest bidders that night. We finally just got together for a fall photo shoot last week. What a beautiful family!

I'm giddy about this post! You see, Heather and Ryan are dear friends of mine who waited years for this baby girl to arrive. I nearly had to pinch myself while editing these images. I was more than thrilled when they asked if they could fly me to their home in Denver for a newborn photo shoot. I was even more thrilled when I was greeted by a sweet two-week-old baby girl with a head full of dark hair. It was such a treat for me to spend an entire day photographing her and catching up with my old Nashville neighbors. Oh how we miss living over the back fence from them.

Matt and Erin lived just a couple of floors below us in downtown Philly. She was my running partner and good friend. He was Jack's and Rex's favorite buddy. They were a lot of fun! I'm pretty sure our year there would have been far different without them. We shared a lot of meals, rides to church, late night chats, many laughs and a trip to D.C.

We left Philly for Salt Lake. They stayed in Philly and had a mini-Matt :) Lucky for us they are in Salt Lake for the summer and we've loved seeing them again. I got to photograph Hank the other evening and it was pure joy.

This was a fun shoot! It may have had something to do with the fact that we were being sneaky and trying to surprise her husband for Father's Day (I love surprises). When he showed up home unexpectedly we scrambled and looked like blubbering idiots trying to make up a story of how we knew each other and what I was doing there with camera equipment sprawled about the room. It was funny. Then she finally just spilled the beans. Oh well. . . he had no idea what had been captured inside my camera. I love what was captured. Those two kids were a ball to photograph and their mom was equally as fun to work with.

This handsome, dark haired, cute-faced baby boy belongs to my beautiful niece Brittany. I'm a great-aunt! Three times over in fact. When you marry the youngest of seven kids you become a great-aunt in your late twenties. I like using the title...{wink}!

Last Friday morning when I got to photograph this sweet new life I was feeling especially glad to be living near family again. Lucky, lucky me!

These darling sisters live just a few houses away and have for only a few months. I loved that their mom wanted them photographed at home. More and more I think that home is the ideal location for photographing little ones. It is after all where kids are the most comfortable and familiar and in their element. It didn't hurt that this home also happened to be beautifully decorated :)

Baby Asha Scout

Of all the photo shoots I've done, none have been as fulfilling as this.

Meet Asha Scout Wade, daughter of Emily and Jon.

I was lucky enough to meet the Wades while living in Nashville. I could devote an entire post to what an amazing duo they are. These two have been waiting for this baby for many years. I was beyond thrilled when I received word from Emily back in February letting me know they had been chosen by a birth mom and that they would be adopting a baby girl, and in Utah no less! The story of her arrival is so special. I get a bit choked up every time I think about it.

When Emily asked me to photograph their family of three together of course I was elated! Last Thursday we gathered at my home and I got to meet the beautiful 16-day-old-bundle. It was very special and meaningful for me to have the chance to capture such a sweet event. I have no doubt it will always be a personal favorite.

Four beautiful gals....inside and out!

Jenny and I were across the hall from each other in the hospital having our baby girls....her second and my first. I'm so glad we've stayed in touch over the past 10 years and even more glad we are living close again. It has been so fun reconnecting with our old med school friends who also took jobs in good old Salt Lake City.

These girls were a lot of fun to photograph. They each have such fun and spirited personalities, not to mention they just may be the most photogenic things I ever laid eyes on.

My husband and Jill were babies in the hospital together in Provo, Utah. My husband and Brett have been buddies as long as they can remember. I was lucky enough to become friends with these two through marriage. They now live down the road in Delaware and we are thrilled to be so close for a year.

I got to snap a few shots before we stuffed our faces full of turkey and potatoes on Thanksgiving.

Jack is a big fan of McKenna and Mya is pals with Savannah. It is always fun to photograph friends. You wouldn't know it by looking at them, but these friends were freezing. The little fellow pictured below is a mover. In fact, I don't think he stopped moving the entire hour and a half long photo shoot (OK, maybe once). Therefore, we all moved with him and I got shots of him doing what he does best. . . moving, running, climbing. Boys will be boys right. I kept reassuring his mom that we indeed were getting some "keepers" and we surely did if you ask me. His parents were so patient and had a great sense of humor about it. I've photographed this family before and was excited to do it again. This year we headed to the courthouse in downtown Nashville and I am really liking the new backdrop. Different is always good!

These ones belong to me. . . through my sister. I love them! While out west for that 55 hours previously mentioned we had a little photo shoot and I am oh so pleased with the results. Really though, how could you get a bad shot of any one of these faces. By the way, those super cute flower clips that are attached to the girl's hats, the ones you are eyeing and envying and wondering where to purchase. My talented sister (yes, the mother of these five) made them. She and my younger sister make them often. They are adorable. Wish you could see all of her creations. . . cupcakes, apples, pumpkins, owls, flowers, cherries, you name it and she has turned it into a funky little clip. She should set up an Etsy shop huh? She's sort of busy at the moment, with those five. Just wanted to acknowledge her talent and creativity here.

This not-so-tiny boy belongs to my older sister. He is her number five. He weighed nearly 10 pounds at birth and was 22 inches long. Lucky me I got to fly out west for 55 short hours of snuggling, smelling {ahhh I love that newborn smell}, smooching and photographing of course. It was a pleasure.

Oh, and I can't forget Jack and Eddie (the dogs). I haven't photographed dogs since I lived in New Orleans. I wish turkey in a little baggie would magically make small children sit still too. I had a great time photographing all four of them.

I was lucky enough to photograph these two adorable faces while vacationing in Salt Lake City. Their mom and I go way back and it is always a treat to spend time with her, even if it involves bribing a toddler with suckers {hence all the sucker shots} and trying to get a baby to sit still. I would do it again tomorrow if I could.

Five beautiful kids and their parents met me at the Iroquois Steeplechase for an evening photography session. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it appears that they did too.

Last Saturday was a little cool and a little overcast and a little more than perfect for taking pictures and so were my subjects. Oh those kiddos. . .that curly red hair on him and those smiling eyes on her. Both full of personality and very sweet!
